ReTaggo

Lost at school? It is probably on a shelf with a tag on it.

ReTaggo turns your school's lost-property room into a searchable catalogue. Staff tag and photograph what gets handed in, you search from your phone, and you collect it with a ticket.

Every item gets a tag and a shelf code, so the screen and the shelf always agree.

How an item gets home

The same four steps at every school, with a record of who handled the item at each one.

  1. A grey wool sweater laid flat, the kind of item handed in every week

    Tagged at the counter

Staff stick on a QR tag, take two photos and choose the item type. It takes under a minute.

  2. A long row of bright lockers in a modern school corridor

    Shelved by type

Sweaters in zone A, bottles in D, phones in the locked cabinet. The shelf code goes into the record.

  3. A hand holding a smartphone

    Found from your phone

Filter by item type, colour and date, or take a photo of a similar item and let ReTaggo suggest matches.

  4. A modern school reception counter where found items are collected

    Collected with a ticket

Claim it, get a ticket, and show it with your ID at the counter. Staff confirm before anything is released.

Children's data stays protected

Built for the Kenya Data Protection Act and the ODPC's guidance for schools, and checked by a data-protection officer before each school goes live.

  • Photos are blurred for parentsFaces and names on items are hidden until a claim is approved.
  • A copy stays in KenyaSchool records are kept on servers in Nairobi, as the regulations require.
  • No names in publicHonest-finder awards show a first name and initial, and only with a parent's consent.
  • No ads, no selling dataSchools and parents pay for the service; nobody else sees your information.

Questions parents ask

Do I need to create a password?

No. You sign in with a code sent by WhatsApp or SMS to the number your school has on file, and your phone can remember you after that.

What if the item is not in the catalogue?

Report it as lost. When something similar is handed in, you get a message with a link to check it.

Can someone else collect my child's item?

Only a parent or guardian linked to the child in the school's records can claim. At the counter, staff check the ticket and your ID.

What happens to items nobody collects?

Each school sets a collection period. After it ends, items are donated or recycled, and two staff members approve the decision.
